I recently stayed at Matilda's and found it to be a charming property just outside the city center, yet conveniently walkable. The staff was exceptionally helpful, and the breakfast served was perfect. The highlight was the beautiful backyard, providing a serene escape for relaxation. During our stay, we explored Santiago extensively, walking from the hotel to the city center, visiting Christobelle, taking the funicular for panoramic views, descending on the gondola to Providencia for lunch, and strolling all the way back. It was a fantastic 30,000-step journey, all manageable for a day's outing from Matilda's. Returning to the hotel in the afternoon, we enjoyed a relaxing beer in the garden, surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere. The library with its wonderful collection of books on Chile added a delightful touch to our stay. Matilda's provided a perfect balance of exploration and relaxation, making our experience memorable.

We had a room overlooking the quiet garden with no annoyance from external noise, and protection from any possible street disorder. The beds were comfortable, and the upper sheet was separate from the ( unwanted) duvet.I liked the 1900s French architecture, with most of the original decor intact. The airconditioning worked well, the lighting was adequate, and I found just enough furniture to fully unpack for 6 days. There was a high level of attention from the staff. My concerns about their being injured moving my luggage, which contained some heavy special equipment, were alleviated when I found that a baggage lift was available. Breakfast was of good quality, with a good level of variety for a small hotel. The option of eating in the shady garden was welcome.

This fantastic boutique hotel has been a rare gem to discover. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful, special mention to Macarena and Catalina. Room so elegant with period features, high ceiling with large windows, very bright room and very very clean, water bottles provided and large bathroom. Breakfast area very good choices and also the options of having eggs done at the moment, nice plus. Very distinct library room, nice to be there for a quiet moment or a glass of wine if you didn't want to use the garden. If you like more traditional style hotel this is the place for you.

Margarita, Fernanda, and all the staff at this hotel were incredibly accommodating and gracious hosts We were running the Santiago marathon and they took great care to be sure we were well fed and caffeinated on the morning before the marathon, and that we were made super comfortable once we celebrated our success & completion of 42K The rooms are restored beautifully, quiet with great solitude found in the gardens and shared spaces Breakfast was fresh and bountiful The concierge Margarita gave us great recommendations for sites to see and museums of interest Would stay here again

A beautiful hotel in an old mansion - this stay was hard to fault. Lovely staff who were super accommodating and a delight - accommodated early check in without any questions (so lovely after a long haul flight). The only downside really was I had a front room which at times during the night or early morning could be a little noisy and it was about a 10-20 min walk to the main attractions. But honestly, I'd stay again - amazing value for money and a delightful stay.
